Movement Background
My movement background is based in gymnastics. Since I could barely walk I began my journey in gymnastics. I compeeted for years, until my teens where I had to make some big changes since my body and mind could agree on what I needed, wchich was rest. I was very hyperflexible and if I had kept on going I was told that I would end up in a wheel chair by the time I was 18 - well to this day im sure my doctors exadurated just a tiny bit. Nevertheless I had to stop so that my body could have the rest and time to grow. Of course many tears were spilled and lost of emotions. The year after I could being a new and much more gentle journey of movement. Still within the category called gymnastics, but as I said, in a much more gentle way. I later began my journey in the world of dancing, and then I was slowly introduced to the path I’m currently walking - yoga, and with it the holistic world.
As I have mentioned in previous sessions on my site, I’m a strong believer in energies. Energies weather it is within us in form of emotions and feelings, or within. us as in our physical body. It is all about balancing our energies, within us with the energies that surround us. The energies we live in - the world. If we truly listen to our body, it has a whole lot to tell us. I listened to only my mind, back when I was completing in gymnastics as a child, even when my body mad my feet stop walking for a few weeks, I still didn’t listen. I wanted to keep going, and as soon as I could, literally walk again, I jumped right back into where I had left.
Now many would may argue, that I was only a child, and my parents should have done something etc etc, but this is not the point and certainly not the moral here ( FYI I couldn't have asked for better parents in this world ! ), I mean how often do you / we as an adult do exactly that very same thing of allowing our mind to sort of completely overrule our stunningly and absolutely fascinating body?! Well you tell me.
The point here is that I believe that if we listen and allow it, our body can lead the way and create this energetic flow as we know as movement, regardless of what word we apply and what specific sort of movements we prefer or like to do, and that in itself can also be healing.
